JOB TITLE:                                   Sales Clerk (Fixed Term of Six (6) months contract)

SALARY BAND:                            SG 3

RESPONSIBLE TO:                      Senior Sales Clerk/ Sales Supervisor/ VCSC/ HoCT/ Site Manager

LOCATION:                                   Vallée de Mai (Praslin)

HOURS OF WORK:                      45 hours per week (expected to work overtime)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Sales Clerk is responsible for providing a professional sales and customer service to all clients visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site at the Vallée de Mai and or Fond Ferdinand.

Their main activities are to promote, sell and validate entrance tickets for visitors entering the Vallée de Mai and Fond Ferdinand. Ensure optimal sales of products at the Vallѐe de Mai souvenir shop and café through a high quality of service delivery and effective sales techniques.  Perform all sales transactions in accordance with SIF currency acceptance and market exchange rate.

Handle and be accountable for daily sales revenue, souvenir and café stock as well as work equipment. Conduct daily inventory of stock and keep an up-to-date inventory record.

Promote and provide visitors with the correct information about SIF UNESCO World Heritage sites (Vallée de Mai & Aldabra) and Fond Ferdinand. Handle minor customer complaints or sales issues and report to management.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate with an advanced Certificate in Restaurant and bar services, OR Certificate in Tourism and Tour guiding or any relevant certificate in the tourism related field plus 3 years working experience as a Sales Clerk or similar field or
  • Certificate in any related field of study with minimum of 5 years professional experience in the tourism industry or any relevant field
