JOB TITLE:                                   Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO)

SALARY BAND:                            SG 11   

RESPONSIBLE TO:                      Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/SIF Board of Trustees

LOCATION:                                     Head Office

HOURS OF WORK:                       40 hours per week (expected to work overtime)

 

CONTEXT & BACKGROUND

The DCEO will report to the CEO/SIF Board of Trustees and serve as a member of the senior management team in ensuring the effectiveness of the foundation by supporting and assisting the CEO in providing the strategic leadership of SIF. The DCEO will have the responsibility to oversee the following departments: Projects, Support & Services and Commerce & Tourism. The position will also contribute to the implementation of SIF strategic plan, policies and practices.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that the operational systems, processes and policies are fulfilling the foundation’s (Head Office, Vallée de Mai, Fond Ferdinand and Aldabra) mission and core values.
  • Manage and increase the efficiency of support services (HR and Administration, Operations and Logistics) through the improvements of each service ensuring the coordination and communication between support services and the other departments.
  • Ensure the effective line management of the department heads, ensuring that the departments are operative.
  • Participate in long and short-term planning processes which lead towards the operational excellence of SIF.
  • Provide operational management and supervision to the following departments (Projects, Support & Services and Commerce & Tourism).
  • Provide strategic advice and support to the CEO on development opportunities of the organization.
  • Initiate, develop and implement specific projects to increase the efficiency of the foundation and as well as working towards its mission and to uphold the core values of SIF, as identified by the CEO/board of trustees.
  • Attend meetings as and when required.
  • Represent SIF in meetings and workshops both nationally and internationally as and when required.
  • Deputize in the absence of the CEO and represent the CEO as and when required.
  • Assist the CEO and CFO in the planning and development of the annual organizational budget.
  • Drive initiatives at management level that will organizationally contribute to the long-term operational excellence.
  • Carry out any other work-related duties as may be assigned by the CEO/Board of Trustees.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES

  • Masters or Bachelor’s Degree in Management
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a management position

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Good computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook.
  • Passionate about natural heritage and sustainable development
  • Very good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Very good knowledge in support & services, project, commerce & development.
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace.

  • Very good people manager, open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done.
