Context and Background: The Project and Science Coordinator is responsible for the set up of SIF project programme and also responsible for coordination of the SIF portfolio of projects

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the successful set up of the SIF project programme
  • Design and develop of a portfolio of project documents (readily available) for submission to potential donors, which should be in line with the science programme and the management plans for the two sites
  • Evaluate, seek and follow up funding opportunities on national and international level including the set up a database of potential donors and collaborators
  • Establish links with research institutions, seek, evaluate and follow up potential research collaborations
  • Ensure effective project implementation in line with the Project Documents.
  • Follow up on disbursement of donor funds, in order to achieve the stated Projects Output and Outcomes in collaboration with the CEO and Director of Research and Conservation
  • Has the overall responsibility to oversee, coordinate and supervise all SIF projects including work plans and budgets
  • Responsible for all administrative matters in relation to the projects in coordination with the Accountant and Administration and Human Resources Manager
  • Ensure SIF procedures and financial rules and regulations are followed
  • Responsible for all required progress, technical and financial reporting to donors via the SIF management
  • Prepare tenders for procurements of inputs and services and evaluate and recommend on bids (to SIF Management)
  • Provide Strategic guidance to the SIF Management
  • Monitor other regional and national environment projects and streamline the SIF Projects activities with these initiatives
  • Perform any other duty relevant duties that may be assigned by Supervisor 

Minimum entry requirements: MSc in Nature Conservation, with particular background in one or more of the following:

  • Fund Raising, project Management, sustainable financing
  • Minimum 3 years experience in national and internal natural resources projects
  • Experience in NGO preferred
  • Prior NGO project, experience execution and some international exposure will be an asset

  • Commitments and diligence – committed to and diligently working towards achieving results for sustainable future of Aldabra and Vallee de Mai
  • Fully computer Literate
  • Language - fluent in English and knowledge of French and Creole will be an asset
